Nursery, K1 & K2
English
Our English programme aims to develop children’s literacy skills and competence in the language. We teach basic skills such as recognising, pronouncing and articulating the words. The programme combines stories, rhymes, songs, literacy activities, reading, spelling and creative writing. These actvities will help the children to have a better command in English.
Chinese
Our Chinese programme aims to cultivate childresn's interest in Mandarin by building their language abilities through speaking, reading and listening. As most of the elderly are Chinese speaking, we ensure that children will be able to communicate with their grandparents via Chinese. Our lessons plan involves stories, songs, rhymes, games, reading and writing. These lessons will nurture the children and let them have a better understanding of the Chinese culture, values and customs.
Mathematics
Our Mathematics programme aims to develop the fundamental concepts. Teachers carried out lessons plan that involves a lot of hands-on activities that make Mathematics interesting and challenging. Through the hands-on experiences, children will be able to understand the concepts better.
Art & Craft
Painting, printing, drawing and handcraft allow children to express their feelings and emotions. Art & Craft lessons are carried out in groups and as individual. Starville Pre-School has a lot of art & craft activity as this is a platform for children to go wild with their imagination and expand their creavity.
Music & Movement
Children will be involved in singing, dancing, musical related games, body percussion and appreciation of musical instruments. These lessons help to build a strong foundation for future formal advancement in both music and language.
Learning Centre Activities
Various learning corners, including art, kitchen, dramatic, English, Chinese, Mathematics and library, are set up in the classrooms to provide opportunities for independent learning. We offer a variety of activities and materials that cater to the multiple intelligences of children, and children can choose to go to the learning centres that interest them. These learning corners help the child to grow and interect with their peers.
Mini Projects
Every term, the children will spend a few weeks on mini projects based on the Themes Approach. We believe that involvement in projects will enrich and help in children’s learning which are extremely important.
